Green Goddess History

These engines, officially Bedford self-propelling pumps, were designed in the 1950s to augment civilian rescue services in case of a nuclear attack as part of the Auxilliary Fire Service.

They are probably best known today for the part they played in the firemen's strikes of 1977 and 2002 but have also been used in times of flood..
